Artisteer v4 – Image vs Background Compression

Artisteer v4 – Feedback Related to Site size and image vs background compression

Issues: Image compression settings only apply to backgrounds no images added to slides on header/footers. This causes the website performance to suffer. An image at 100k used as a background with 80% jpeg compression (this option is setup in the artisteer settings for global image compression and file type, PNG vs JPG) is great and works well.

However, this same process with a slideshow image, header image or footer image give a file size of 2mb for the same image.

Solution:

change single image slide shows or footers to background images and make sure to use JPG’s instead of PNG due to lack of PNG compression  in artisteer.
