IE 10 Windows 8 – view in IE9 stuff works. You can do it easily.

While creating websites I find Windows 8 RP and IE10 Internet Explorer 10 don’t play nice at times. I think most people don’t know that you can easily switch to IE9 mode instead of IE10 Compatibility mode which doesn’t work any better if not worse.

While in IE10 Desktop version not Metro. Click F12 then on the top bar of the diag windows select Browser Mode: IE9. The page will reload and from that point on you’ll run as IE9. If you close Internet Explorer it will reset. However, closing and opening a tab will not reset it.

  1. […] Second Update: After browsing around a bit, this is what you can do. […]

  2. Thank you for the Tip, It temporary slove me the javascript problem in IE10 until they find a fix.

    • Regarding the post by jbenisek | August 1, 2012 regarding temporarily switching to IE9 to make Windows 8 IE10 work better, using the suggested F12 by clicking had unstable results. Any updates to this issue for improved results?

      • Most websites should be working in IE10 now. However, I’ve seen some bugs where IE-32bit vs IE-64 work differently. If you are having a really odd problem try that. C:\Program File86\Internet Explorer is 32-bit | C:\Program files\Internet Explorer\ is 64-bit.

If you don’t have a Program files(x86) then you’re running a 32-bit version of Windows.

Also Keep in mind that if you are running IE64 you must have Flash 32-bit and 64-bit. It’s also important to make sure they are the same versions.
