Windows Vista Remote Access settings reset to OFF with update

Monday or Tuesday an auto update turned all of our Windows Vista computers remote access setting to “Do not allow remote access!”

This is greatly annoying and took me 4 days to figure out. Sad I know but in XP the error message lets you know it’s disabled where as in Vista they’ve changed it and you get a computer not found.

The Firewall was also reset for Remote access port exception.

However, on a bright note Live Mesh came to save the day and allowed Remote Access regardless of the Remote Access setting. What a great product/platform Microsoft I cherish the day I don’t need a workstation or any locally installed software.

This software also allows you to sync data to a safe place at Microsoft Datacenter or any number of other computers, mobile phones and mac’s you use.
